The Canadian Association of the World Petroleum Council

WPC Canada is a volunteer not-for-profit network of energy professionals headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. The organization helps members stay connected and informed about the worldwide oil and gas industry, primarily by organizing the Canadian presence at the tri-annual World Petroleum Congress.

WPC Canada has been an active member of the World Petroleum Council (“WPC”) for more than 70 years. The WPC is a non-political organization comprised of 66 member countries that produce 95% of the world’s oil and gas. The mandate of the WPC is to foster the exchange of information on various issues that are of importance to the global oil and gas industry.

Every three years, the WPC hosts the largest oil and gas conference in the world known for its C-suite participation and deal flow. The next “Congress” is scheduled for Houston, Texas from December 5-9, 2021.

An important part of WPC Canada’s mandate is to organize Canada’s formal participation in each Congress. This includes securing Canadian speakers for the Congress program, organizing a Canadian Ministerial Session, building and managing a Canada Pavilion on the exhibition floor, and hosting various networking functions including the very popular Canada Night for up to 500 special guests.

Calgary Hosting the WPC Congress in 2023

WPC Canada is also pleased to advise that Calgary was selected to host the 24^th WPC Congress, scheduled for September 17-21, 2023!

The Congress in Calgary is expected to attract 15,000 – 17,000 visitors including delegates, exhibitors, government representatives, academia, and media. There will be participation from over 100 countries, 500 oil and gas companies, 50 heads of state and/or Energy Ministers, and coverage from over 1,000 international media outlets.

Attendance in Houston at the 23^rd WPC Congress will provide many important connections for Canadian oil and gas companies. A robust Canadian presence will also help promote the 24^th WPC Congress as we welcome the world to Calgary in 2023!
