Green Nanotechnology for Enhanced Oil Recovery of Heavy Oil and Oil Sands

Project Description

NaNoEOR™ green nanotechnology is an exothermic technique that employs a three-pronged approach consisting of:
- Exothermic reaction of sodium nanoparticles with formation water - Generates hydrogen gas creates heat to easily reduce viscosity to 99%, and creating new reservoir pressure - Creates sodium hydroxide that alters wettability and reduces interfacial tension.
All three of these effects will enhance heavy oil recovery. Also, the nanofluid removes carbon, grease, and oil from oil field equipment. The produced heat melts the contaminated substance. The NaNoEOR™ nanomaterial dissipates in the reservoir once the reaction is complete, which means there is no damage to the reservoir or surface equipment.
